Indivisible QC and Visibility Brigade Quad Cities are organizing a protest Sunday in response to the killing of Alex Pretti by federal agents.
On Saturday in Minneapolis, Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse at the VA hospital, was fatally shot by a federal Border Patrol agent. This shooting follows a string of controversial federal agent-involved shootings in the city this month, including the killing of Renee Good by an ICE agent earlier in January.
Instead of accountability, Trump and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) are escalating misleading narratives and justifying the killing. They are demonstrating that lawful concealed carry by a U.S. citizen is being used to retroactively justify execution on city streets.
We Demand:
• Independent, state-led investigations into all ICE and Border Patrol killings
• An end to militarized ICE raids in our communities
• Congressional defunding or strict limitations on DHS and ICE
• Accountability for federal agents who kill or abuse civilians
This is not public safety.
This is state violence.
Cold Weather Advisory
Low temperatures are forecast. Please dress for extreme cold and take care of yourself and others.
Nonviolence Commitment
This is a peaceful, lawful protest.
We expect all participants to act nonviolently, to help de-escalate conflict, and to follow all laws.
No weapons of any kind should be brought to this event.
Why We’re Showing Up
If federal agents can kill U.S. citizens, block investigations, and claim immunity, then no one is safe.
We show up because silence is permission.
