Join us for the No Kings March on Oct. 18

Friends and supporters of democracy:

Last June 14th, through Indivisible we massed well over 5 million people across our towns and cities to say there are “No Kings” in a democracy, and we will not allow a tyrant to trample our rights. In possibly the largest political assembly ever in the Quad Cities, over 3 thousand people gathered at Schwiebert Park in Rock Island to make our voices heard.

Since then, things have only gotten worse. Masked, unidentified gunmen terrorize our cities and arbitrarily round up our black and brown neighbors; the government mocks the federal judiciary when they lose a ruling, and uses the FCC to suppress any free speech that is critical of this regime and its supporters; and a variety of voter suppression tactics promise to threaten fair elections next November.

It’s time again to mass in the streets on October 18th. Indivisible has partnered with dozens of progressive organizations to galvanize participation. In order to increase our visibility, we’ve adopted a march format. Gathering will occur by 10:45 am at the stone fountain on the south side of Vanderveer Park, followed by 11 am marching. Bring clever and colorful signage, but this is a nonviolent civic action, in deed and word (Please take the time to learn how to de-escalate potentially hostile situations.) Those who cannot march are invited to bring chairs or to simply stand near the fountain to display signs and join in chanting. Help us to Pack the Park!

In the lead up to No Kings October 18, we challenge you in 2 specific ways: Get 3 new friends or neighbors out to the march and signed on for future actions, and try to donate at least $5 each to the IndivisibleQC March and Solidarity Fund (see attached QR code). If we can raise enough funds by early October, we can count on being able to shut down whole lanes of traffic on either side of the park (Brady and Harrison), thereby increasing our visibility and the breadth of the main march lines. If you are unable to donate at this time, we understand and appreciate you showing your support by sharing the event info.

IndivisibleQC is 100% volunteer powered. Your gift helps us cover permits, insurance, printing, sound, and accessibility, so we can host more actions. If you can, please give generously and support the work we do together:
